Just now, BlackMagic has announced the availability of a new firmware update utility targeted at all of its digital cameras, namely version 1.9.1, which adds support for one more imaging unit – the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K device.

This fresh release consists of two downloadable archives: one package compatible with the 64-bit variant of Microsoft’s Windows 7 and 8 operating systems, and the other file targeted at Mac OS X platforms.

Even though no fixes or improvements are included in this update, if you intend to apply the new software in order to be up to date, get one of the aforementioned archives that best suits your computer operating system, and extract it.

As a recommendation, it would be best to run “Uninstall Camera Utility” prior to updating the 1.9.1 software, and only afterwards apply the present release. This allows a fresh installation of the utility which ensures that all changes take effect properly.

Now, simply run the available setup from the newly extracted folder, and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete and successful installation.

Bear in mind that, during the upgrade, the Cinema Camera EF and MFT cameras’ LCD screen might start flickering – do not disconnect the cameras or turn off the PC, as this behavior is normal.

With this in mind, download BlackMagic Camera Firmware Update Utility 1.9.1 for the appropriate OS and camera model, take into account all above-described steps, and apply the latest software. Also, constantly check with our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
