Intel has made available a new BIOS package developed for its NUC devices, namely version 0050, which includes a few changes that improve overall security and compatibility.

Specifically speaking, the new release improves protection for specific UEFI variables as highlighted in Intel’s Security Advisory 00038 and resolves various issues that caused the wireless adapters to lose connectivity.

As for the compatible products, this update can be applied on Intel’s D33217CK, D33217GKE, and DCP847SKE NUC boards, as well as on the DC3217BY, DC3217IYE, and DCCP847DYE kits.

However, when it comes to this type of update, the BIOS should be upgraded to a newer version only if this process brings certain changes that you can make use of. Also, it would be best if this task was performed in a steady power environment.

Besides the aforementioned changes, the present release also contains the 8.1.40.1416 ME firmware, the 1.2.15 VBIOS, and the integrated Graphics and LAN option ROMs builds 2158 and 091.

In addition to that, Ivy and Sandy Bridge EFI driver version 3.0.1023 and 2.0.1024, respectively, will also be applied along with the BIOS update.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Intel NUC model, take into account all aspects described above, and update your BIOS to the latest version.
