The new AtomOS 4.2 increases precision meters for all channels, both analog and digital

Atomos has outed a new firmware package developed for its Ronin, Samurai, and Ninja-2 field recorders, namely version 4.2, which promises to improve the devices’ overall performance and stability.

If updated, AtomOS 4.2 will increase the precision meters for all channels (both analog and digital) in the audio page, and enhance the drive size calculation method in order to ensure that recordings won’t start when the drive is full.

In addition to that, Peak and Average levels are added (with digital clipping indicator and VU ballistics), -18dB and -20dB alignment audio levels are marked for a more accurate selection, and corner case encoding issues are now resolved through some camera and cable optimizations.

Moreover, the problem with the year selection field that was difficult to set when resetting date is resolved (year setting start from 2013), and “2:2” icon is displayed near the input format indicator when 2:2 pulldown is set to “On.”

That being said, from the links below, choose the one that best describes your Atomos field recorder, get its related AtomOS 4.2 package, and update your device.
