The Android ICS distribution receives neat improvements

Here's one nifty piece of news for all the Asus Transformer pad owners out there: a new firmware is ready and you can download and install it yourselves, in case you haven't already received it OTA.

We're talking about the Android IceCream Sandwich distribution 4.0.3, which in Asus' terms translates into the 9.4.3.30 firmware. Please be advised that you can only upgrade your tablet's operating system using the right SKU for your device; WW SKU won't install on a tablet running the US SKU and so on. Even more, the firmware update will not do “SKU conversions” and cannot be used for software downgrading.

The Asus Transformer TF300T firmware 9.4.3.30 brings enhanced stability for its native web browser, Google Chrome, after some issues have been reported, while the camera performance underwent some minor improvements, too. Pictures seem to be more colorful with 9.4.3.30 firmware installed, while the Auto-White-Balance (AWB), Auto-Focus (AF) and Continuous-Auto-Focus (CAF) will perform better.

Firmware 9.4.3.30 also brings fixes for two bugs. The first one plagues the WiFi connection and resulted in failure to connect to a wireless network after resuming from suspend. The second bug affected the AppBackup and asked that users re-keyed-in the password after changing the screen orientation.

Please check your SKU version navigating to Settings > About tablet > Build number. You'll most likely see a build number such as WW_epad-9.X.X.X_2012xxxx, where “WW” means SKU.

Download the Asus Transformer TF300T firmware 9.4.3.30, safely and for free, as always.
