Today, ASrock has released new BIOS packages targeted at several of its motherboards, namely versions 1.40, 1.60, 2.90, 3.10, and 3.10 developed for the producer’s Fatal1ty Z87 Killer, 990FX Extreme9, X79 Extreme3, X79 Extreme6, and X79 Extreme4-M, respectively.

When it comes to the changes, the X79 Extreme devices get a display problem regarding the PCIe and PCI graphics card resolved, their system browser now works properly, and the Xeon E5 2603 V2 is modified with DDR3 1600MHz memory.

In addition to that, ASRock’s 990FX Extreme9 board memory compatibility with AM3-2xx series CPUs improved, and information is shown when CPU ratio exceeds over x21.0.

Last but not least, through its related BIOS update, the Fatal1ty Z87 Killer motherboard will support ASRock Cloud, the C-State MSR will be unlocked, and a “USB Compatibility Patch” option will be added in the BIOS setup menu.

When it comes to installing these new versions, you should take into account upgrading to a new BIOS only when the newer build specifically resolves an issue that the board has been encountering or makes changes that you can make use of.

Moreover, since a BIOS update failure can cause serious problems to the system, it is recommended that you perform this step in a steady power environment, such as the one ensured by a UPS unit.
