ASRock, the well-known electronics manufacturer from Taiwan, has launched a new BIOS for its H61M/U3S3 motherboard. Version 2.40 offers Windows 8 support as well as memory compatibility improvements.

According to the changelog, the CPU code is now updated and the discrete VGA card vBIOS compatibility has seen enhancements as well.

After you update to this version, you will see that the BIOS will automatically detect the PCI Express link speed.

As a note, ASRock mentions that “Ultra Fast” is supported only if you are running Windows 8 installed on GPT format and if the graphics support UEFI GOP.

That being said, download the BIOS from the link below, extract the archive and restart your computer. Enter BIOS and, under the “Smart” menu, select Instant Flash.

The motherboard will detect all BIOS files from HDD, USB Stick or floppy drive. Flash it, restart the system and you're “updated one minute ago.”
