On the list: B75 Pro3-M and X79 Extreme4 Intel-based boards, and FM2A75 Pro4-M AMD boards

Today ASRock updated three of its BIOS versions for two Intel and one AMD chipset-based motherboards. Specifically speaking, there are the 1.70 and 3.00 BIOS versions that are targeted at the B75 Pro3-M and X79 Extreme4 Intel-based boards, and the 2.10 BIOS package compatible with FM2A75 Pro4-M AMD-chipset board.

As for changes in these new BIOSes, we can bring out the B75 Pro3-M motherboard that gets a better memory compatibility and an auto-detect TPM (Trusted Platform Module) feature. And to stay on the Intel-based chipset track, we can also add the X79 Extreme4 board that has improved VGA card compatibility.

To continue with the AMD board, the FM2A75 Pro4-M receives an “IOMMU” item in BIOS setup, an updated CPU code, and like the B75 Pro3-M, an auto-detect TPM function.

In order to install these BIOSes, there are two processes that are similar for all three boards. The first would be the one using the “Instant Flash” file, which you must copy on a USB, HDD, or floppy drive. Afterwards, boot up the system, hit F6 when asked, select the BIOS version and wait patiently for the process to finish.

The second type of process is using the Windows file (unavailable for B75 Pro3-M) that must be copied on a similar drive as well. Go into BIOS setup menu, select the BIOS Update Utility item, select the version desired and flash.

We will finish with a recommendation – if the system is working fine, a new BIOS version update isn’t necessary.

This said, from the links below follow the one that best describes your motherboard and stay up to date.
