14 DAY TRIAL // Just now, ADATA has rolled out a new firmware package for some of its Solid State Drive (SSD) devices, namely version 5.8.2, which improves the overall stability and enhances the SSD reliability after unsafe power cycling.
When it comes to the compatible products, this release can be applied on ADATA’s S510 and S511 6Gb/sec SSDs, on the Premier Pro SP900 device, as well as on the XPG SX900 and SX910 solid state drives.
As for applying the update on these devices, you should know that the update tool only works with Microsoft’s Windows XP, Vista, and 7 operating systems (either 32- or 64-bit architecture).
In addition to that, bear in mind that all files found on the SSDs will be erased during the upgrade process, therefore, make sure you back up all important data prior to initiating the installation.
With this in mind, save and unrar the downloadable package, browse and run the “ADATA_SF_FieldUpdater_V136.exe” file with administrator rights, click “Rescan for Drives,” and wait for your SSD unit to appear on the screen.
Another important aspect that you must take into account is that, in order to update several drives, the last five digits of each SSD Signature must be identical; otherwise you might brick the device.
Therefore, after all SSDs appear, select the ones you want to upgrade, click “Update Firmware,” navigate and select the firmware file whose name specifically describes your SSD’s signature, and click “Proceed” to initiate the installation.
During the update process, make sure you don’t close the Field Updater or disconnect the SSD so that no problems are encountered.
Upon completion, it would be best to press “Rescan for Drives” once more and check the “FW Rev.” to ensure the installation has been successful.
