TP-Link has made available a new firmware package targeted at its TL-WA850RE v2 Range Extenders, namely version 151224, which optimizes the behavior of LED lights, as well as the mechanism for searching for Wi-Fi signal.

In addition to that, TP-Link has also managed to add support for multi-languages in web management page, thus allowing users to choose from 21 kinds of different languages.

When it comes to installation, first write down all the settings changed from the default values, save and unzip the downloadable archive, log into the device’s administration page, go to System Tools > Firmware Upgrade, and click the “Browse” button.

Afterwards, navigate and select the newly extracted .bin file, hit “Upgrade,” and wait patiently while the range extender does its job. Also, make sure that the computer and TL-WA850RE v2 unit are connected via an Ethernet cable so that no problems appear.

Do not power off/reboot the device or the computer, or remove the Ethernet/power cable from either device. Doing so can cause an upgrade failure that can lead to serious device malfunctions.

Last but not least, once finished, it would be a good idea to click “Status” to verify whether the device’s firmware has been upgraded. Also, re-enter or reconfigure the device manually with the desired parameters, if necessary.

That said, download TP-Link TL-WA850RE v2 Range Extender Firmware 151224, carefully upgrade your unit using the above steps, and enjoy the changes this release adds to your device.
