Sony has just made available its new firmware package compatible with PlayStation 3 gaming systems, namely PS3 Software Update 4.84, which includes small quality improvements regarding system performance.

Therefore, if you intend to upgrade your console to this release, save the downloadable package, create a “PS3/UPDATE” path onto an initialized flash drive and transfer the “PS3UPDAT.PUP” file into the newly-created “UPDATE” folder.

Now, insert the drive into your PS3, go to Settings → System Update → Update via Storage Media, and the console will do the rest. First it will search and recognize the 4.84 firmware, and afterward, it will automatically initiate the upgrade process.

However, permission to install version 4.84 must be granted (press “X” on your controller). Also, keep an eye on the progress as it advances so that any additional instructions requested by your device are followed.

Last but not least, once completed, make sure to go to Settings → System Settings → System Information and check to see if the upgrade has been successful: a 4.84 system version should be displayed.

As for some recommendations, while installing, bear in mind that you mustn’t turn off Sony’s PlayStation 3 unit or remove its memory stick on which the update has been copied. Doing so will not only interrupt the upgrade but might also severely damage the console.

That said, download Sony PlayStation 3 Firmware 4.84, carefully apply it on your gaming system, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
