NVIDIA has made available a new GeForce Graphics Vulkan Driver, namely driver version 457.83 (455.50.02 for Linux) Beta, which adds support for linear images in host-visible video memory and fixes a crash Vulkan swapchain initialization on older versions of Windows 10.

In addition to that, the current build also resolves an OpenGL issue where imported Vulkan buffers would fail with GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY on Linux if marked as resident, and correct VK_EXTERNAL_SEMAPHORE_HANDLE_TYPE_D3D12_FENCE_BIT semaphore export support on Windows platforms.

When it comes to supported platforms, this new release is suitable for both desktop and notebook configurations powered by Microsoft’s Windows 7 and 10 operating systems (64-bit only). Moreover, the producer has also provided a downloadable file compatible with Linux OSes.

As for installation, save the package that is designed for your OS, close all programs and processes that might interfere with the upgrade, run the downloaded file, wait as the wizard extracts all files required for the update, and follow all instructions displayed on the screen.

Last but not least, once the upgrade has finished, it would be a good idea to perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly. If this task isn’t requested automatically by the wizard, however, make sure to carry it out manually so that no problems appear.

That said, download NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Vulkan Driver 457.83 Beta, apply it on your device, and enjoy your newly-improved system. Also, check back with us as often as possible to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
