The firmware update resolves fast forward/rewind problems

GoPro has just announced the availability of firmware 1.80 targeted at its HERO7 Black action cameras, which resolves the fast forward/rewind problems seen when using the Media Gallery slider, and adds general bug fixes.

In addition to that, the HERO7 Black camera also gets a fix regarding the freezing issues encountered during software updates and when rotating the camera after recording with certain settings.

If you want to enjoy the benefits of these updates, save and unzip the downloadable archive, and transfer the “UPDATE” folder onto the root directory of a formatted microSD card. Make sure not to copy it in a different folder.

Now, remove the memory card from your computer and insert it into your action camera (power off the device before this step), turn on the GoPro unit, and wait patiently as the new firmware is applied.

Take into account that the camera will cycle through some beeps and restart itself several times. During this, the unit will flash an “UPDATING” message before it turns OFF; make sure not to interrupt this process in any way.

Even though this seems easy, bear in mind that removing the card/battery or making use of the camera’s buttons during the upgrade might lead to serious malfunctions, and can even render the device unusable.

That said, download GoPro HERO7 Camera Firmware 1.80, carefully apply it on your device by following the steps mentioned above, and check back with us as often as possible to stay “updated one minute ago.”
