Amazon has unveiled the new 6.2.6 firmware update targeted at its Fire (5th and 7th gen), Fire HD 8 (5th, 6th, and 7th gen), and Fire HD 10 (5th and 7th gen) tablets, which only includes general improvements, as well as performance enhancements.

If you own one of these devices and intend to upgrade it to this firmware release, first check the currently installed version to make sure that it isn’t either newer or matching the present build. To do so, simply go to Menu > Settings > System Updates, and review the software details.

If all is ok, save the appropriate package for your Fire model, connect the tablet to the computer using a USB cable, navigate to the root folder of the device’s internal storage, and drop the downloaded .bin file there.

After the update file has been successfully copied, safely disconnect the tablet from the computer, go to Menu > Settings > System Updates once more, and start the installation process from there.

Last but not least, after the new system software has been applied, check the currently installed firmware version once more as described above to make sure the update process has been successful.

With this in mind, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Fire device, and apply the present release in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
