Today, Amazon has provided a new firmware update compatible with some of its Kindle devices, namely version 5.11.2, which allows the library to display just Kindle Unlimited, Prime Reading items, and Samples with a single click, and also adds other performance improvements, bug fixes, and general enhancements.

In terms of compatible devices, the update is targeted at Amazon’s Kindle Oasis 9th and 8th generation, Kindle Paperwhite 10th, 7th, and 6th gen tablets, Kindle 8th and 7th generation devices, as well as at its Kindle Voyage 7th generation unit.

As for installation, get the appropriate .bin file for your device model on your computer, connect the tablet to it using a USB cable, navigate to the root directory of the Kindle’s internal storage, and copy the downloaded firmware file there.

Still, don’t forget to check and make sure the currently installed firmware isn’t either newer or matching this release (Home > Menu > Settings > Menu > Device Info).

If all is ok, make sure the transfer completed successfully, remove the USB cable, go to Home > Menu > Settings > Menu > Update Your Kindle, tap “Ok,” and the tablet will do the rest; just make sure it has a fully charged battery to finish this task properly.

You should also know that the updates can be received over-the-air (OTA) or wirelessly; however, besides an Internet connection, this method requires you to wait for the new firmware to arrive to the tablet, as not all users get it at the same time.

In other words, if you want to update now, download Amazon Kindle Firmware 5.11.2 for your specific device, apply it by carefully following the aspects mentioned above, and check our website as often as possible to be aware when a newer version is available for your device.
