The update includes general improvements and bug fixes

Today, Amazon has rolled out the 6.3.4 firmware package compatible with its 1st generation Kindle Fire tablets, which should include general enhancements and fixes that improve the unit’s overall performance and stability.

However, since no changelog is available, the only way to find out what the changes really are is to save and apply the present firmware version on your tablet. Still, make sure the currently installed firmware isn’t either newer or matching this release (Quick Settings → More → Device).

If all is OK, get the downloadable .bin file on your computer, connect the tablet to it using a USB cable, navigate to the root directory of the Kindle’s internal storage, and copy the “update-kindle-6.3.4_D01E_4120220.bin” file there.

Now, after you have ensured that the transfer completed successfully, remove the USB cable, go to Quick Settings → More → Device → Update Your Kindle and the tablet will do the rest; just make sure it has a fully charged battery to properly finish this task.

You should also know that the updates can be received over-the-air (OTA) or wirelessly; however, besides an obvious Internet connection, this method requires you to wait for the new firmware to arrive to the tablet, as not all users get it at the same time.

Therefore, if you want to update now, download Amazon Kindle Fire 1st Generation Firmware 6.3.4, apply it by carefully following the above-described aspects, and check our website as often as possible to be aware when a newer version is available for your device.
