| Asus F3P Universal Audio Architecture KB888111 | Reviewer: Tim
Date: 16 Jun 2008, 16:46 GMT | ASUS motherboard P5GC-MX/1333 has unwanted HD audio [all I need is something to power my headset], and no driver available that will work. After spending several hours (over three) with ASUS tech help and installing / uninstalling both their drivers (which won't install from their CD) and following their advice about getting no-longer-available-from Microsoft patch KB888111 [Hey -- how do you know you're getting a good one?], the Realtek audio driver can't be uninstalled!
Now ASUS says I have to reinstall Windows -- a ridiculous project, given all the trouble I just went through to install their motherboard!
ASUS doesn't support its product, and all they can do is suggest that I rebuild my computer -- and offer no assurances, at that!
If they had any customer-service sense, they would warn buyers that their motherboard won't work with the XP operating system. If they maintain that it does (and they say that it does), they should offer (on the installation CD) a copy of whatever is required to make it work, or at least provide clear instructions and downloads on their website. But they don't.
I've used ASUS motherboards for over a decade. This is my last one. |
