Conexant Systems, a worldwide leader in semiconductor system solutions for digital information and home entertainment networks, introduced the industry�s first dial-up modem chip with support for Intel�s High Definition Audio (HD Audio) bus architecture audio standard. The CX11254 is the first in a family of planned products. It uses the HD Audio bus (formerly know by the code name �Azalia�) to transmit data between an internal narrowband modem and notebook and desktop computers. It is shipping in sample quantities to customers now.

HD Audio is an end-to-end audio specification that defines the controller, link and board implementation of audio and modem hardware, both of which are required and operate on the same bus. It enables high-quality, home theater-like sound on multimedia/Media Center PCs.
