INSTALLATION NOTES

Windows 2000
- You will need to have Administrator or Power User access privileges to install the ImageStudio software under Windows 2000.
- Due to a bug in the installer engine, installation of the ImageStudio software is limited to single OS boot systems. Installation onto a second OS on a dual boot system will fail.

Upgrading from Windows 98 to 2000 or XP
- If you have installed a Logitech USB camera under Windows 98, and the system has then been upgraded to Windows 2000 or XP, you will need to uninstall and re-install the ImageStudio software.

KNOWN ISSUES

Installation Issues
- On some systems during installation of ImageStudio, "1201: Setup needs 8000 KB free disk space in C:\." error dialog appears even though you have sufficient disk space. If you are experiencing this behavior, try running "instmsia.exe" file before running SETUP.EXE.
- The ImageStudio software requires Internet Explorer 4.0 or later for proper operation.

Image Quality

- Lighting Conditions
To ensure the best possible image quality when using the camera, it is important to have bright lighting conditions. If you are using the camera in a low light condition and the image is dark then select the "Low Light Boost" option control in the "Change Camera Settings | Advanced camera settings." dialog.
- Anti-Flicker Settings
It is important to have the correct "Anti Flicker" setting to prevent flickering or banding of the image under fluorescent lighting conditions.The correct default setting is applied during installation. The
"Anti Flicker" control is available in the "Change Camera Settings Advanced camera settings." dialog.
Correct settings are as follows:
50 Hz Europe, Australia
60 Hz North America

Audio and Video Issues

- Please be sure to have the latest drivers for your sound card. There have been instances where older sound card drivers can cause audio and video synchronization problems.
- Please be sure to have the latest drivers for your video card. There have been instances where older video card drivers can cause problems.
- There have been situations when the ImageStudio software stops streaming video when the camera is re-connected after being unplugged. If this should occur, restart your machine. If your camera was connected to a hub, disconnect and reconnect the hub.
- There are known compatibility issues with FIC 503+ motherboards and the Matrox G200 video card. If you are experiencing strange video performance, please upgrade your video driver.
- There are known compatibility issues with some video cards showing upside down images during preview. If you are experiencing this behavior, try setting "Hardware Acceleration" to none in the Advanced Graphics Settings.
- There have been situations under Windows 98G when streaming video stops in the ImageStudio software. If this should occur, please download Windows 98G Service Pack 1.
- There have been situations under Windows 98 and Me when streaming video stutters during playback when started from the middle of the saved video. This problem is not specific to ImageStudio. The same problem occurs with Microsoft Windows Media Player.
- When video is created in detached mode using ClickSmart 510 camera, the video is compressed and saved using a specific CODEC. To view an AVI video that was created in detached mode, you must
have the ImageStudio software installed, the ImageStudio drivers installed, or run the CS510_Patch.exe file.
- There have been situations when the text and graphics in the ImageStudio activity tabs doesn't appear. If this should occur, please download the latest drivers for your video card. This problem was seen but may not be limited to the 3DFX Voodoo Banshee AGP video card.
- There are known compatibility issues with some video cards showing green or pink images when playing back 640x480 videos. If this should occur, please download the latest drivers for your video card. This problem was seen but may not be limited to the ATI Rage II PCI video card.

TWAIN Issues

- Acquiring an image within Adobe PageMaker can cause an Invalid Page Fault Error. This occurs since the ImageStudio data source does not support the file transfer mode of TWAIN.
- Users of Adobe PhotoShop 4.x may experience problems when acquiring an image via TWAIN. The problem does not occur with the current version of PhotoShop (5.x).
- If you use the Log Off feature of Windows while using the camera, the camera will no longer function until the computer is restarted. This is a known Microsoft Windows issue.
- On some systems the ImageStudio software may stop capturing an image when the computer is placed into suspend mode. This can occur for several reasons. If your system stops capturing video
when the system enters into suspend mode, we suggest that you disable this feature of your system.
- There are known compatibility issues with AOL 5 under Windows 2000. If you are using AOL 5 under Windows 2000 we recommend that you upgrade to the latest AOL 6 or higher.
- Text in a Video E-Mail created by Netscape will not be formatted correctly if the HTML formatting option is turned on. Disable this option for properly formatted text.
- Do not use identical names for your Web Cam or Web Album. Doing so may invalidate the URL you have passed on.
- We try to include the latest version of RealPlayer. If you are experiencing trouble with videos from a web album or viewing a broadcast, check for an update to the RealPlayer.
- If you are experiencing difficulty in maintaining a long term web cam, we suggest that you run this feature in its run time mode. This option is given to you when you close the ImageStudio software with a web cam running. This method of running a web cam can minimize the resources required by the software.
- The Connection Type option of the Broadcast Now settings will default to a 56K connection. For optimal broadcasting performance, change this setting only if you and your viewers have access to higher bandwidth connections.
- With an Internet connection through a modem, you may experience difficulties trying to view a show at the same time you are broadcasting a show. This is a limitation of the bandwidth of the Internet connection. Higher bandwidth connections such as DSL or LAN will allow for viewing and broadcasting at the same time.
- To avoid damaging the SmartMedia card, please wait 8 seconds after shooting a video before removing the card or connecting the camera to a USB port.
- Logitech does not recommend the use of rechargeable batteries with our cameras. recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
