Drivers for 3rd party RAID controllers should be obtained from the manufacturer of the controller or the mainboard manufacturer that the controller has been used on. This patch, for all Microsoft 32 bit Operating Systems except Windows Server 2003, will increase the burst rate with the following ATA RAID controller chips:

Promise
This may not be noticeable in overall Hard Disk performance benchmarks as burst rate is not measured separately and only makes up a small percentage of Hard Disk performance.
This patch can be used on all VIA chipsets, except chipsets with the VT8235 or VT8237 South Bridges.
This patch is not necessary for any VIA RAID controller chips.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
