The Realtek PCI Fast Ethernet NIC driver package can be applied to any RTL8139, 8130 or 810X network card. It can be used to update an existing driver or during a new installation of a network card. However, Realtek advises that if Windows prompts you with 'New Hardware Found' for the PCI Ethernet Controller, you should not specify the location of the driver. Instead, finish the new hardware wizard (the PCI Ethernet Controller will now appear in Windows' Device Manager), then run the setup program included in this package. Restart your computer to complete the installation. More details can be found in the setup.txt included within the zip file.
It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed a wrong driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
