This package contains the Broadcom Wireless Utility for the supported notebooks, adapters, and operating systems.

The Broadcom Wireless Utility is a wireless LAN application that replaces the default Microsoft Windows XP Windows Zero Configuration Service. Once the Broadcom Wireless Utility is installed, the user is required to use the Broadcom Wireless Utility to configure the Broadcom wireless device and manage the wireless network connection.  The Broadcom Wireless Utility is required with the supported Broadcom adapters to connect to wireless networks that use Cisco Compatible Extensions. Users may also find the Broadcom Wireless Utility useful for advanced profile management, single-sign-on support, and advanced diagnostics. Most home and small office, home office (SOHO) users do not need this functionality. If the Microsoft Windows XP Windows Zero Configuration service is required again, uninstall the Broadcom Wireless Utility.

ENHANCEMENTS

- Provides Broadcom Wireless LAN User Interface version 5.10.79.5 for use with Broadcom Wireless LAN driver 5.10.79.5.

PREREQUISITES

1.  This add-on requires uncompressed free space on the flash memory (Drive C:) and uncompressed free space in the temporary folder. These space requirements must be met in order to successfully deploy this add-on.

    * Space required on the flash memory after installation: 19.0 MB (with NTFS Compression)
    * Space required in the temporary folder for installation: 26.0 MB

2.  If there is not enough space on the RAM Disk (Z:), it may be necessary to increase the RAM Disk up to its maximum size to deploy the add-on.  After installation, HP recommends that the RAM drive be set back to its original size.

3.  Before increasing or decreasing the size of the RAM Disk, reboot the machine so that unwanted changes do not get committed to the flash memory.

4.  If there is still not enough space on the RAM Disk to deploy the add-on, HP recommends that the system %TEMP% and %TMP% variables be temporarily re-defined to either the (C:) drive or a network share on the deployment server and that the setup program be executed from the deployment server.
