Western Digital has rolled out a new firmware package targeted at its My Cloud EX2100 and EX4100, namely version 2.30.165, which manages to improve the SMB server to operate using SMB-3 protocol and support Apple Time Machine protocol extensions.

In addition to that, this release fixes critical security vulnerabilities, updates native Elephant Drive app to v3.0.24, enhances dashboard network graph X-Axis, resolves MacOS Sierra (v10.12) ssh client connection issues, and adds analytics for network connection configuration.

Moreover, WD improves MyCloud connectivity and internal flash efficiency, resolves an issue with analytics logs and additional shares (created on system restore), improves directory browsing latency, and implements several other enhancements as highlighted in the Release notes below.

When it comes to installing version 2.30.165, save the downloadable bin package, log into the device’s dashboard user interface, go to Settings → Firmware Update, and click on the “Update From File” button from under the “Manual Update” section.

Now, browse and select the appropriate .bin file and click “Ok” at the dialog that asks for your permission to initiate the upgrade. When the installation has finished, the EX unit will automatically reboot.

Bear in mind that you mustn’t interrupt the firmware update process or rename the bin file so as not to encounter any problems; doing so might cause serious malfunctions to the device.

That said, download WD My Cloud EX2100 Firmware 2.30.165 or download WD My Cloud EX4100 Firmware 2.30.165, take into account all aspects mentioned above, apply the latest firmware version, and enjoy your newly updated personal cloud.
