Today, Western Digital has rolled out a new firmware package targeted at several of its My Cloud NAS models, namely version 2.21.111, compatible with the My Cloud PR4100, PR2100, DL4100, DL2100, EX4100, and EX2100 Network-Attached Storages.

In terms of changes, the present update removes several bugs that prevented the MyCloud units from waking up if scheduled, syncing time or auto connecting to Active Directory server, or reaching iSCSI target.

Moreover, WD has managed to improve encrypted USB dongle compatibility, USB detection performance, and automatic firmware update process, fix GHOST Security Vulnerability (CVE-2015-0235), and add analytics for active directory configuration.

In addition to that, firmware 2.21.111 expands USB device support, enhances overall Onboarding experience and localization, fixes various problems regarding App installer, NFS clients, and more, as well as implements several changes as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

However, bear in mind that not all fixes and improvements described above apply to each and every one of the compatible NAS models. Make sure to check the description page of each downloadable package to see the changes that will be reflected on your device.

Therefore, if you want to apply this firmware version, save the appropriate .bin file suitable for your NAS, go to My Cloud Dashboard UI > Settings > Firmware Update > Manual Update > Update From File, and follow all instructions displayed.

With this in mind, download WD My Cloud Series NAS Firmware 2.21.111, apply it to improve the unit’s overall performance and stability, and visit our website as often as possible to be aware when a newer version is available for your device.
