The new firmware release improves overall system stability

Today, Sony has announced the availability of a new firmware package developed for its PlayStation (PS3) systems, namely version 4.80, which brings the usual stability improvements during use of certain features.

If you intend to apply this update, first of all, create a “PS3/UPDATE” path onto a formatted portable storage unit, save the downloadable .PUP file into that directory, and connect it to your PS3 console.

Afterwards, simply go to Settings > System Update > Update via Storage Media, let your device search and recognize the new file, and wait patiently as the new firmware is automatically being applied to your console.

However, bear in mind that you must not interrupt this process by making use of the PlayStation’s buttons, removing the power cable or the storage unit, powering it off, or in any other way. Doing so might not only lead to malfunctions but can also render the unit unusable.

Last but not least, once the upgrade finishes, make sure to go to Settings → System Settings → System Information and check to see if the new firmware has been successfully applied: a 4.80 system version should be displayed.

With this in mind, download Sony PlayStation 3 Firmware 4.80, carefully apply it, and enjoy your newly improved gaming system. Also, make sure to constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
