After one and a half years and a long row of Windows Update releases, Realtek has finally announced the availability of its new 2.80 HD Audio package, which includes support for all HD Audio Codecs and installs the 6.0.1.8004 driver version.

In terms of compatibility, the available files are suitable for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 operating systems, as well as Windows Server 2003 and 2008 platforms. Moreover, the files can also be installed on either desktop or notebook configurations.

To be clear about the downloadable packages, Realtek has provided two executables targeted at each bit architecture, as well as two additional files (one executable and one archive) compatible with all OSes mentioned above.

Now, if you intend to upgrade to this release, first of all, make sure your system OS is supported, save (unzip if necessary), and run the appropriate file on an accessible location (such as your desktop).

Afterward, just follow all instructions displayed on the screen for a complete and successful upgrade. Also, once finished, it would be a good idea to perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly (if it isn’t requested automatically by the wizard, carry it out manually).

With this in mind, download Realtek HD Audio Driver 2.80, install it and check out our website as often as possible to be aware when a newer version is available for your device.
