The new update might improve overall sound quality

Today, after almost a week since the previous Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7960 was released, the producer has rolled out a new High-Definition Audio package, namely version 6.0.1.7962 WHQL.

In terms of compatibility, the current update is targeted at both 32- and 64-bit variants of Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 platforms, including the Redstone (RS) and Threshold (TH) anniversary editions of Windows 10.

However, even though other OSes might seem to be compatible, you should know that installing the present update on different platforms isn’t recommended. Doing so can lead to malfunctions that would require you to remove and re-apply your previous driver.

Since there is no official changelog available, I can only assume that this release might include small improvements regarding stability, performance, and/or sound quality. Therefore, to find out what the changes really are, you must install the package on your desktop or notebook.

To do so, save and extract the downloadable archive (about 347 MB) to an accessible location on your computer, locate and run the available setup file from within the newly created folder, and follow all instructions displayed on the screen for a complete and successful upgrade.

Last but not least, once finished, make sure you don’t forget to give the wizard permission to perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect. If this task isn’t requested automatically, however, it would be a good idea to carry it out manually.

That said, download Realtek HD Audio Driver 6.0.1.7962, follow all instructions highlighted above, install the new version, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
