The update includes driver customizations and bug fixes

Today, Realtek rolled out a new update for its HD Audio chipsets, namely 2.82, which includes certain driver customizations and bug fixes (as the Release Notes highlight) and installs the 6.0.1.8186 HDA version.

In terms of compatibility, this update includes support for both 32- and 64-bit variants of Microsoft’s Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 operating systems, as well as for its Windows Server 2003 and 2008 platforms.

However, even though they might also work on Server 2012 and 2016, you should know that installing Realtek’s update on platforms other than the ones mentioned above isn’t recommended. Doing so might lead to various malfunctions and will require you to reinstall the previous driver.

Thus, if you intend to apply driver 2.82, first download the appropriate package suitable for your system configuration, run it, and wait for all required files to be extracted. Also, take into account that there are four packages: two archives for 32- and 64-bit variants, and one zip and one exe files for both architectures.

Afterward, follow all on-screen instructions for a complete and successful upgrade, and don’t forget to give the wizard permission to perform a system reboot. If this task isn’t requested, it would be a good idea to carry it out manually; this allows the changes to take effect properly.

That said, download Realtek HD Audio Driver 2.82 for your system’s bit architecture, apply it on your device, and check our website as often as possible in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
