NVIDIA has made available for download its latest 2.0 firmware version developed for the SHIELD Android TV and Android TV Pro gaming consoles, which includes support for the producer’s GeForce NOW feature, as well as several other changes.

Specifically speaking, this new update allows the consoles to render 4K Ultra HD games, such as Beach Buggy Racing, Bombsquad, Hardwood Solitaire IV, Riptide GP 2, Kosmik Revenge, and a few others highlighted in the Release Notes below.

In addition to that, Android TV units will now be able to play several new games, provide a better playback experience for Netflix and YouTube, and adjust images on the screen to perfectly fit your TV.

If applied, firmware 2.0 will also add the ability to transfer files from a USB media device to a MicroSD card via the ES File Explorer app, as well as manually turn off the SHIELD controller (hold NVIDIA button on controller for six seconds)

Moreover, the producer has expanded the codec and container support, implemented 23.976 Hz playback capabilities for most Google Play movies, Netflix movies, and Blu-ray movie files, and lowered audio latency for gameplay.

When it comes to the downloadable files, NVIDIA has provided 2 archives for each device: one stock recovery OS package, and one developer-only version of the 2.0 software upgrade. Bear in mind that the latter isn’t recommended for general users, as it might allow unauthorized access to various data.

That being said, download NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Firmware 2.0, carefully apply it on your console following the same steps as in earlier versions, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
