14 DAY TRIAL // Today, Nikon has announced the availability of two new firmware packages targeted at its D3S and COOLPIX S2900 digital compact cameras, namely versions 1.1 and 1.03, respectively, which should improve the units’ overall performance and stability.
Specifically speaking, while the 1.1 update fixes a rare issue where the image on the monitor was out of focus when the camera was turned on, the 1.03 firmware resolves the problem with the battery level indicator that would flash occasionally in certain situations.
In addition to that, Nikon’s 1.03 package will also address an issue where two different pictures with the same file number would be saved to both memory cards (if present) if Overflow is selected for SHOOTING MENU > Slot 2.
When it comes to installation, first make sure your camera isn’t already running the latest firmware, and save the appropriate file for your device model and computer OS (available for both Mac OS and Windows platforms).
Afterwards, run the saved file, transfer the .bin file from the newly created folder onto a memory card, insert it into the camera, and turn the device on. Now, simply go to Setup > Firmware Version, and follow all instructions displayed on-screen.
