Well known for its custom packages, AsusWrt-Merlin has announced yet another firmware release compatible with some of ASUS’ wireless units, namely version 378.56 Beta 1, which implements improvements to the VPN Status page and includes several other changes.

Specifically speaking, this new version upgrades OpenVPN (2.3.8), MiniDLNA (1.1.5), MiniUPnPd (20150723), and Dropbear (2015.68), and reduces leaks in network map when scanning for printer servers, as well as in ez-ipupdate when an update fails.

In addition to that, the developer now allows using up to 5 different OpenVPN clients, displays the connection failure reason on the OpenVPN client configuration page, and gives users the ability to edit the DHCP static leases list, virtual servers, and port triggers.

If you upgrade to this release, your router will also benefit from a Russian ISP Telenet, IPSet support in dnsmasq, a configurable default loglevel, as well as from several other fixes and improvements, as highlighted in the Release Notes below.

When it comes to installation, simply save and unzip the appropriate archive for your specific device model, establish a wired connection between your router and a computer, and log into its administration page.

Now, go to Advanced Settings > Administration > Firmware Upgrade, hit the “Choose File” button near the “New Firmware File” section, select the newly extracted .trx file, click “Upload,” and wait for your router to do its job.

That being said, download AsusWrt-Merlin Router Firmware 378.56 Beta 1 for your specific model, apply it, and constantly check our website to stay informed when newer versions are available for your device.
