Well known for its custom firmware releases, AsusWrt-Merlin has announced the availability of a new update package compatible with some of ASUS’ wireless routers, namely version 380.62.1, which updates the OpenSSL version to 1.0.2j.

Even though the present release doesn’t include other changes, for those of you who want their devices to always run the latest version, first of all, make sure your router’s firmware isn’t either newer or matching this build.

Afterward, save and unzip the appropriate archive for your device model; the developer has provided several packages targeted at ASUS’ RT-AC3100, RT-AC3200, RT-AC5300, RT-AC56, RT-AC66, RT-AC68, RT-AC87, and RT-AC88 models, as well as the RT-N66 router.

If all is ok, connect the router to your computer, log into its administration page, and go to Advanced Settings > Administration > Firmware Upgrade. From there, select New Firmware File > Choose File, choose the newly-extracted .trx file, click “Upload,” and wait patiently.

Bear in mind that interrupting this process can result in serious device malfunctions. Thus, make sure not to turn off/reboot either the router or the computer, close the web browser, or remove the power/Ethernet cable.

With this in mind, download AsusWrt-Merlin Router Firmware 380.62.1 for your specific device, apply it and check our website as often as possible to stay informed when newer versions are available for your product.
