The updates resolves a large number of fixes and problems

ASUS has rolled out new firmware packages targeted at its RT-AC1200 and RT-N16 router models, namely versions 9.0.0.4.380.4455 beta and 9.0.0.4.380.2985 beta, respectively, which includes a huge number of changes.

Specifically speaking, these releases update OpenSSL library to 1.0.2d, fix several buffer overflow-related issues, resolves CSRF and XSS vulnerabilities, and changes brute-force protection mechanism in router login page.

In addition to that, these firmware add ASUS Router App support and Bandwidth Limiter in QoS, restrict WAN method access to enhance security, and improve router login and wireless passwords strength check method to protect against brute-force attack.

If applied, ASUS’ updates will also change warning page and Telnet default access interface styles, fix issues regarding GUI, MAC clone, IPv6 relay, and IE8/IE11 compatibility, as well as implement several other changes has highlighted in the Release Notes.

When it comes to installation, just save and unzip the proper downloadable archive for your device, establish a wired connection between the router and your computer, log into its administration page, and use the newly extracted .trx file to upgrade the router to the latest firmware version.
