NETGEAR has announced the availability of new firmware packages developed for certain router models and which resolve Security Advisory for VU 582384 where a potential remote attacker has the possibility to inject arbitrary commands that are then executed by the system.

Due to this vulnerability, the producer has provided stable new firmware updates compatible with its R6400 (1.0.1.18), R7000 (1.0.7.6), and R8000 (1.0.3.26) routers, as well as beta packages for the D6220 (1.0.0.22) and D6400 (1.0.0.56) units.

In addition to that, NETGEAR’s team has also rolled out new beta firmware versions developed for the R6250 (1.0.4.6), R6700 (1.0.1.14), R6900 (1.0.1.14), R7100LG (1.0.0.28), R7300DST (1.0.0.46), and R7900 (1.0.1.8) device models, which address the same security issue.

When it comes to installation, first of all, make sure your router isn’t already running the present firmware (or newer), save and extract the downloadable archive, and establish a wired connection between the router and your computer.

Afterward, log into its administration page, go to ADVANCED > Administration > Firmware Upgrade, hit “Browse,” locate and select the .chk file, click the “Upload” button, and wait patiently as the device does its job.

That said, save the update file specifically designed for your device model from the links below, apply it, and check back with us as often as possible to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
