The new firmware release resolves SOAP security issues

Just now, NETGEAR has made available a new firmware package suitable for its DGN1000v3 wireless routers, namely version 1.0.0.22, which corrects errors spotted on debuginfo page when connection type is PPPoA, and more.

This new update also corrects parental control for PPPoA connection type, and fixes SOAP security issues, SSL POODLE vulnerabilities, as well as NETGEAR’s Genie application improper behavior (“The operation timed out” issue).

In addition to that, the producer has managed to squash a bug that caused the router to block inbound traffic from WAN when it was set as pure router mode (NAT disabled), and modified the WANIPConnection::GetInfo SOAP API.

As for applying this release, simply get and extract the downloadable archive, log into the device’s administration page, go to Maintenance > Router Upgrade, and click the “Browse” button.

Afterwards, navigate and select the newly extracted .img file, click on the “Upload” button and wait for the DGN1000 unit to perform the upgrade. Also, make sure not to interrupt the installation process in any way as this can cause serious device malfunctions.

Moreover, since wireless connections can be easily interrupted, it would be best if you connected the router and the computer through an Ethernet cable; doing so will ensure high connectivity strength.

With this in mind, download NETGEAR DGN1000v3 Router Firmware 1.0.0.22, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, apply the update, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about.
