The new release improves 2.4GHz connection stability

NETGEAR has rolled out its 1.0.0.20 firmware package developed for R6400 router models, which includes a few 2.4GHz connection stability improvements and fixes the NETGEAR USB Control Center that prevented the router from being found after enabling ACL.

Considering these changes, if you intend to upgrade your wireless unit to this release and enjoy the aforementioned improvements, first of all, log into the router’s administration page and make sure that its currently installed firmware isn’t either newer or matching this version.

If all is OK, save all settings that you have changed from the default values, as you might need to re-enter them manually, save and unzip the downloadable archive, and connect the router to your computer using an Ethernet cable (wireless technology might disconnect randomly).

Afterwards, log into the R6400’s web interface once more (username and password must be requested), go to ADVANCED tab > Administration > Firmware Upgrade, hit “Browse,” navigate and select the newly extracted .trx file, and click the “Upload” button.

Now, simply wait for the process to complete and make sure not to interrupt the upgrade in any way; doing so will not only crash the installation but might also cause various device malfunctions.

That being said, download NETGEAR R6400 Firmware 1.0.0.20, apply it on your router, and enjoy the changes this release brings about. Also, check our website constantly in order to be aware when a newer version is available.
