Intel has just rolled out a new version of its PROSet/Wireless driver and utility, namely 18.11.0, which drops support for Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system and might include various stability and performance improvements.

Even though an OS isn’t supported anymore, Intel’s update still maintains compatibility with both 32- and 64-bit variants of Microsoft's Windows 7 and 8.1 platforms.

However, bear in mind that trying to apply these packages on OSes other than the aforementioned ones might lead to various malfunctions, even though they might seem to work for the moment.

When it comes to valid components, this release is suitable for computers powered by a supported operating system, and which includes one of the Wireless-AC 3160, -AC 3165, -AC 7260 (for Desktop), and -AC 7265 dual band adapters.

In addition to that, Intel’s Wireless-N 7260 and 7265 products (including the dual band ones) are also suitable for this update.

As for the downloadable files, the producer has provided several separate drivers-only and drivers with Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software packages for each small-business owners and IT Administrators (that require advanced tools).

Last but not least, as far as installation is concerned, simply save the appropriate package, unzip it if necessary, run the available setup file, and follow all the instructions displayed. Also, make sure to perform a system reboot to allow all changes to take effect properly.
