Intel has rolled out a new BIOS package targeted at its NUC5i3MY Next Unit Computing device, namely build 0032, which updates Visual BIOS to version 2.2.17, adds “Fanless” option to Fan Control Mode, and implements several other changes.

Specifically speaking, Intel’s new BIOS updates processor support, installs the 10.0.45.1024 ME (Management Engine) firmware, adds a Windows Recovery feature via F5 hotkey, and removes the bug that prevented Bluetooth test items from being listed in HLK as default.

In addition to that, version 0032 upgrades legacy and UEFI RAID OPROM to 14.5.0.2241, fixes the USB mouse and keyboard improper behavior in BIOS setup menu, and corrects the Ctrl + I hot key so that it now launches RAID configuration.

When it comes to the new 2.2.17 VBIOS, this update removes the unused assets from Performance and Mainstream themes, and also corrects scaling issues with 4K monitors by refactoring the graphics resolution algorithm to find the closest supported resolution to 1024x768.

In terms of supported devices, this release is compatible with Intel’s NUC5i3MYHE NUC Kit, as well as with its NUC5i3MYBE NUC Board that is included within the aforementioned product.

If you consider applying this BIOS, first of all you must save the appropriate file, as Intel has provided 4 different files: Recovery, iFlash, and Express BIOS Updates (2 executables).

Just to be clear, while the iFlash BIOS Update archive can only apply version 0032 via a DOS command prompt, the Recovery package is able to perform a recovery process if the upgrade hasn’t been successful

Last but not least, the two Express BIOS Updates executables (one for each bit variant of Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10), which describe the commonly-used installation method, should only be run from their compatible OSes.

That being said, download Intel NUC5i3MY NUC BIOS 0032, save the desired file, and carefully upgrade your device’s BIOS version. Also, check our website as often as possible in order to be aware when a newer version is available.
