Intel has provided a new BIOS package targeted at its NUC5CPYH, NUC5PGYH, and NUC5PPYH NUC kits, namely version 0040, which updates processor support, applies TXE firmware build 2077, and includes several other changes.

Specifically speaking, this new update resolves system hang events during PXE boot, SD card and USB mouse compatibility problems, and USB charging issues in S5, and improves VBIOS by installing an upgraded version (1007).

In addition to that, BIOS 0040 also fixes the USB device icon, the RTC wakeup issues in S3/S4, and the screen blinking events when using keyboard input in DOS, corrects the L2 Cache value in BIOS menu, and updates GOP to version 8.0.1033.

Moreover, Intel’s team has managed to change the prompt for F8 recovery to show Windows 8.1 (or 10), fix Express BIOS Update failure when Legacy mode is disabled, and correct the SD bootable device name and CPU fan state (in Ready Mode).

When it comes to installation, take into account that Intel has provided 4 different files: Recovery, iFlash, and Express BIOS Updates (2 executables).

To save the appropriate package, you should know that the iFlash BIOS Update archive can only apply the new version via a DOS command prompt, while the Recovery package is able to perform a recovery process if the upgrade hasn’t been successful.

As for the two Express BIOS Update executables, these files are compatible with Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 OSes, and must only be opened under these operating systems.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one best describing your NUC kit, save the desired file, and upgrade your device’s BIOS. Also, check our website constantly to be aware when a newer version is available.
