The update reverts cameras to firmware 3.00

After rolling out the big Fujifilm X-T2 Camera Firmware 4.00, the producer found out that its update includes a few bugs that prevent the unit from operating correctly; thus, software 4.00 was withdrawn, and firmware 4.01 was born.

However, this is a temporary solution for those of you who upgraded to version 4.00. Also, take into account that the current release implements the changes from X-T2 Firmware 3.00 and doesn’t include 4.00 functions.

As for the discovered issues, Fujifilm’s camera might hang-up in rare cases, experience live view flickering when pressing the shutter button halfway, and improperly convert RAW files that were taken before firmware 4.00.

Therefore, save the downloadable package, transfer it onto a formatted memory card, and insert the card into the camera. Before moving forward, make sure to use a fully charged battery, as failing to perform the upgrade due to the camera turning off might lead to malfunctions.

Now, power on the X-T2 unit, press the “DISP/BACK” button to display the current firmware version, select “Ok,” confirm the item as “Body,” and agree with the next dialogs regarding the upgrade process.

Still, bear in mind that the installation should take roughly 90 seconds to complete, and if this takes longer, please be patient and do not turn off the camera or remove the memory card. Doing so can cause serious problems or even render the camera unusable.

Once completed, it would be a good idea to remove the SD card used in this process and check the device’s current firmware version to ensure that the upgrade has been successful.

That said, download Fujifilm X-T2 Camera Firmware 4.01, carefully apply it on your device, and enjoy these new changes. Also, check back with us as often as possible to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
