NETGEAR has pushed out a new firmware version targeted at its R6700 Nighthawk router, namely version 1.0.0.24, which allows the device to make use of features such as ReadyCLOUD, enhanced Parental Controls, and Genie app remote access.

In addition to that, this release also fixes a SOAP API security hole issue, resolves the Windows 10 Edge and Internet Explorer 11 browser compatibility problems, and removes the K-code NetUSB vulnerability.

When it comes to applying this update, first of all, check your unit’s currently installed firmware build and make sure it isn’t either newer or matching this release. Also, since wireless technology tends to disconnect occasionally, establish a wired connection between it and the computer.

Another important aspect that you should take into account is that all settings that have been changed from the default values must be backed up, as you might need to re-enter them manually after performing this update.

Now, save and extract the downloadable archive, log into your router’s administration page, and go to Advanced > Administration > Firmware Upgrade. From there, click “Browse,” navigate and select the .img firmware file, click “Upload,” and wait for the device to do its job.

In other words, download NETGEAR R6700 Router Firmware 1.0.0.24, carefully apply it on your smart device, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about.
