GoPro Updates Firmware for Its HERO5 and HERO4 Cameras

GoPro has just rolled out two new firmware packages compatible with its HERO5 (Black/Session) and HERO4 (Black/Silver) action cameras, namely versions 01.50 and 05.00, respectively, which enable Karma system compatibility.

In addition to that, HERO5 Black camera alone receives improved support for Auto Upload to GoPro Plus, while the HERO4 models get Linear Field of View (FOV) capabilities.

Therefore, if you want to enjoy the benefits of these updates, save and unzip the downloadable archive, and transfer the “UPDATE” folder onto the root directory of a formatted microSD card. Make sure not to copy it in a different folder.

Now, remove the memory card from your computer and insert it into your action camera (make sure the device is powered off), turn on the GoPro unit, and wait patiently as the new firmware is applied.

Take into account that the camera will cycle through some beeps and restart itself a number of times. During this, the unit will flash an “UPDATING” message before it turns OFF; make sure not to interrupt this process in any way.

That said, download GoPro HERO5 Camera Firmware 01.50 or download GoPro HERO4 Camera Firmware 05.00, carefully apply it on your device, and check back with us as often as possible to stay “updated one minute ago.”
