The firmware update includes small console improvements

Sony has just made available its new firmware package compatible with PlayStation 3 gaming systems, namely version 4.82, which improves the overall quality of the system performance once more.

If you intend to upgrade your console to this release, save the downloadable package, create a “PS3/UPDATE” path onto an initialized flash drive and transfer the “PS3UPDAT.PUP” file into the newly-created “UPDATE” folder.

Afterward, insert the drive into your PS3, go to Settings → System Update → Update via Storage Media, and the console does the rest. First, it searches and recognizes the 4.82 firmware, and then it automatically initiates the upgrade process.

However, permission to install a newer version must be granted (press “X” on your controller). Also, keep an eye on the progress as it advances so that any additional instructions requested by your device are followed.

Last but not least, once completed, make sure to go to Settings → System Settings → System Information and check to see if the upgrade has been successful: a 4.82 system version should be displayed.

As for some recommendations, while installing, bear in mind that you must not turn off Sony’s PlayStation 3 unit or remove its memory stick on which the update is. Doing so will not only interrupt the upgrade, but it might also severely damage the console.

That said, download Sony PlayStation 3 Firmware 4.82, carefully apply it to your gaming system, and regularly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
