Sony made available firmware version 2.10 and 3.20 for its digital camera models ILCE-7SM2, respectively ILCE-7RM2, also known as Alpha 7S II and Alpha 7R II.

The new versions allow users to record movies in the XAVCS format using an SDHC memory card, a feature available in the past only with an SDXC card.

However, you have to know that any movie file that exceeds the size of 4GB will be split into multiple files that can be integrated later into a single file using PlayMemories Home software. Also, the memory card used with the camera must be at least SD Speed Class 10 or UHS Speed Class U1.

In terms of installation, the process it simple enough for you to be able to do it yourself. All you need is a computer with Windows or MAC OS, the camera's USB cable, a fully charged NP-FW50 battery pack and a little bit of attention.

First, you have to download the firmware file to a place on your computer and double-click it to start the System Software Updater.

Then, remove the memory card from the camera, power the camera on and connect it to your computer using the USB cable. Make sure that on the device LCD monitor, USB Mode is displayed. If not, try to reconnect the USB cable to another port on the computer.

At the System Software Updater screen, follow all the instructions displayed in order to complete the update. The process should take approximately 15 minutes, a period of time that you should not allow your computer to enter Sleep (Standby) mode and interrupt the update process.

So, if you're eager to use the new features on your camera, download Sony Alpha 7S II Camera Firmware 2.10 or download Sony Alpha 7R II Camera Firmware 3.20, perform the update and don't forget to check our website as often as possible to stay in touch with all that's new in matter of software.
