The present update supports Remote Play on iOS devices

Just now, Sony has made available the download links for its latest PlayStation 4 firmware, namely version 6.50, which allows owners to use PS4 Remote Play to connect to their PS4 system from devices such as smartphones and tablets (make sure to download PS4 Remote Play from the App Store).

In addition to that, the current update also gives users the ability to configure the button that performs the “Enter” operation (from O to X), as well as to choose 720p when broadcasting using Niconico Live. Still, these changes are only available in certain countries and regions.

If you wish to make use of this new version, first save the appropriate upgrade package, as Sony has provided two downloadable .PUP files: one for updating the PS4 console and the other for reinstalling a fresh 4.05 firmware on the PlayStation unit.

Either way, download the “PS4UPDATE.PUP” file, create a “PS4/UPDATE” path onto a FAT32 formatted USB flash drive and transfer the firmware there. Also, take into account that it’s highly recommended you don’t rename the file; doing otherwise will lead to various malfunctions.

Now, turn off the console, connect the newly-prepared USB drive, press and hold the power button for at least 7 seconds (Safe Mode), and go to Settings > System Software Update. Afterward, follow all instructions displayed and don’t interrupt the process in any way.

Still, if Sony’s PS4 system doesn’t recognize the downloaded file, it would be a good idea to check all above-described steps to make sure you have followed them precisely before jumping to conclusions.

That said, if you want to try out this new update, download Sony PlayStation 4 Firmware 6.50, apply it on your gaming console, and keep checking our website for more news regarding this release.
