NVIDIA’s 5.0.2 firmware installs Android 7.0 Nougat Upgrade

NVIDIA has rolled out a new firmware package developed for its SHIELD Android TV and Android TV Pro gaming consoles, namely version 5.0.2, which applies the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, as well as several changes.

Specifically speaking, the update includes Picture-in-picture support, allows quick access to recent apps by double-pressing the home button, provides faster navigation with a new right-side vertical settings menu, and enables cast for HBO GO.

In addition to that, NVIDIA adds 4.1, 6.1, and 8.1 speaker configurations for Plex, gives the possibility to write to an attached USB or SD card storages, as well as includes Pause/Play button functionality on the SHIELD remote by double-tapping on the volume slider.
