ASUS has made available a new firmware package developed for its RT-AC3100, RT-AC5300, and RT-AC88U wireless routers, namely version 3.0.0.4.380.7627, which manages to fix the Movistar IPTV issue and block unnecessary ICMP requests.

In addition to that, the producer has also added an anti-brute force attack function for telnet and SSH, resolved the hostname problems in OpenVPN server config file (.ovpn), as well as allowed only specified IP addresses to cover SSH/Telnet/Web Access from WAN.

As for upgrading the device, first of all, check your router’s current firmware so that it isn’t newer or matching the present version, and only afterward save and unzip the downloadable archive.

Now, establish a wired connection between the router unit and your computer, log into its administration page (username and password should be requested), go to the Firmware section, and use the newly extracted .trx file to upgrade the device to the latest version.

Even though this seems easy, bear in mind that interrupting the upgrade process by removing the Ethernet/power cable from either device, closing the web browser, or in any other way will lead to an update failure that might cause various malfunctions.

That said, download ASUS RT Router Firmware 3.0.0.4.380.7627 for you specific model, take into account all aspects mentioned above, and apply the package. Also, check back with us constantly to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
