The update improves autofocus speed for movie recording

Canon has announced the availability of a new firmware package compatible with its EOS M3 and M3 digital cameras, namely version 1.1.0, which manages to improve autofocus speed for movie recording when using EF-M 28mm F3.5 IS STM lens.

To make use of this change, first of all, check your unit’s current firmware version and see if it’s either newer or matching the present release. If it isn’t, save and unzip the appropriate archive for your model, format an SD card using the camera, and transfer the .FI2 file on it.

Afterwards, insert a fully charged battery to the EOS unit and, before initiating the upgrade, know that you mustn’t open the battery/memory card cover or operate any of the buttons/dials/switches while installation is in progress.

If all is ok, connect the SD card to the appropriate slot, power on the camera in shooting mode, and go to Menu > Settings > Setup 4 > Firmware Version, and follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete and successful upgrade.

Moreover, once finished, make sure to remove and format the memory card, and go to the same location once more to check the currently installed firmware (version 1.1.0 must be visible on the LCD monitor).

With this in mind, download Canon EOS M10 Camera Firmware 1.1.0 or download Canon EOS M3 Camera Firmware 1.1.0, follow the instructions above, and check our website constantly to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
