The update improves read performance on small address spans

Crucial has made available a new firmware version suitable for its MX200 Solid State Drive (SSD), namely MU02, which enhances random write performance on transfers not aligned to 4KB address boundaries, and includes various bug fixes, as well as stability improvements.

This new update provides an increased read performance on small address spans, offers an improved acceleration capacity recovery after TRIM and SANITIZE commands, and adds Informative SMART thresholds for Attributes 202 and 5.

In addition to that, build MU02 also gives the SSD the ability to make use of READ DMA BUFFER, WRITE DMA BUFFER, and DOWNLOAD MICROCODE DMA commands.

As for applying this release, first of all, check the drive’s currently installed firmware and make sure it isn’t either newer or matching this version. If all is OK, save and unzip the downloadable archive, and create a bootable media using the newly extracted .iso file.

Now, simply boot into the created drive, and follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete and successful upgrade. Also, once finished, make sure to remove the bootable media so that your OS can restart normally.

Even though this seems easy, bear in mind that failing to perform the installation properly might lead to various malfunctions and can even damage the drive, as well as its stored data.

With this in mind, download Crucial MX200 SSD Firmware MU02, carefully apply it on your unit, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about. Also, constantly check our website in order to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
