The newly released firmware enables IP streaming feature

Today, Canon has made available a new firmware package suitable for its XF200 and XF205 camcorders, namely version 1.0.3.0, which enables IP Streaming feature that is basically a video transmission method.

In addition to that, the new update also adds Slow and Fast motion recording functions for MP4 formats, improves Browser Remote application’s zoom operation, and enhances the user interface in order to simplify camcorder network settings configuration.

With this in mind, if you intend to make use of these new changes, first make sure that your device’s currently installed version isn’t either newer or matching this release, and only afterwards save and unzip the downloadable archive.

Afterwards, it would be a good idea to back up any files stored on your camcorder, as well as any settings changed from the default values.

Now, format a memory card using your recording unit, transfer the newly extracted “VKC3.FIM” file onto its root folder, connect the card to your device (make sure it’s off), and then power the XF unit on.

Finally, go to Menu > Other Functions > Firmware, select “OK” at the update confirmation screen, and wait approximately 10 minutes for the installation process to finish. Once completed, the camcorder will automatically reboot and display its current firmware version.

That being said, download Canon XF200 Firmware 1.0.3.0 or download Canon XF205 Firmware 1.0.3.0, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, and enjoy the new changes this release includes.
