Canon has rolled out new firmware packages targeted at some of its EOS digital cameras, which manages to resolve a bug that affected standard exposure when using Silent LV with TS-E 50mm f/2.8L MACRO, TS-E 90mm f/2.8L MACRO, or TS-E 135mm f/4L MACRO lenses.

Specifically speaking, the producer provided separate downloadable packages developed for its EOS 5D Mark III (1.3.5), EOS 6D (1.1.8), EOS 5Ds R (1.1.2), EOS 5Ds (1.1.2), EOS-1D X Mark II (1.1.4), and EOS-1D X (2.1.0) imaging units.

Besides the improvement mentioned above, for the EOS-1D X camera, Canon also changes the maximum number of release cycles (to 9,999,000) and fixes the Error 80 and synchronization failure encountered during multiple flash shooting.

In addition to that, EOS 5Ds R, EOS 5Ds, and EOS-1D X Mark II devices receive support for Exif 2.31, chromatic aberration correction, peripheral illumination correction, distortion correction, and Digital Lens Optimizer.

Therefore, check your unit’s current firmware version and see if it is either newer or matching these releases. If it is not, save and unzip the appropriate archive for your model, format an SD card using the camera, and transfer the file to it.

Afterward, go to Menu > Settings > Setup 4 > Firmware Version, and follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete and successful upgrade. Make sure no to open the battery/memory card cover or operate any of the buttons/dials/switches while installation is in progress.
